Alocasia Venom
Alocasia ‘Venom’ is a distinctive collector Alocasia known for its dark, sculptural foliage, bold contrasting veins and unusually elongated leaf tips. Its narrow, dramatic silhouette gives the plant a sharp, architectural appearance that stands apart from more rounded Alocasia forms.
As the plant matures, the combination of deep green foliage, pale venation and exaggerated leaf shape becomes increasingly pronounced, making Venom especially appealing to collectors who appreciate unusual form as much as colour.
Why We Love It
✦ Distinctive leaf shape: Long, tapering leaf tips give Venom its unmistakable sculptural appearance.
✦ Bold contrast: Pale veins stand out clearly against the darker foliage, creating a striking graphic effect.
✦ Collector character: Its compact, upright growth and unusual silhouette make it very different from more common Alocasia varieties.
Care Guide
Light: Bright, indirect light. Avoid harsh direct sun, particularly during the hottest part of the day.
Water: Allow the upper layer of the growing medium to begin drying before watering again. Water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain freely.
Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity with good airflow. Consistent conditions are especially helpful while the plant establishes.
Temperature: Keep warm, ideally around 18–28°C. Protect from cold draughts and sudden temperature changes.
Potting Mix: Use an airy, free-draining aroid mix that retains some moisture while allowing good oxygen flow around the roots.
Feeding: Feed during active growth according to your fertiliser manufacturer’s directions. Reduce feeding when growth slows.
Pets & Children: Harmful if eaten. Keep out of reach of pets and young children.
